In the later days of 2017, the Development Department of Subiaco Abbey & Academy began a needs assessment for a capital campaign after being approached by the Alumni Association to consider a process for increasing funding to support tuition assistance for the families of the Academy, in particular sons of alumni commonly referred to as legacy students. A facility review and improvement plan was initiated, and from that, a proposed project list was compiled. We conducted a feasibility study for a proposed Capital Campaign with an outline of projects from the needs analysis. Completed in early fall 2018, the results of this study were submitted for review to the Foundation Board, seeking approval to go forward in unity. The monastic community, Foundation Board, Academy Board of Trustees, and the Alumni Board of Directors all voted in favor. With the base work completed, the formation of committees for the preparatory stages began in early 2019, with a plan for personal visits in Phase I of the campaign. Information about the process of the campaign was given to the alumni present at the General Business Meeting at Alumni Reunion in June 2019. Those who attended received a first-hand look at how the gifts from our previous capital campaign, Continuing the Tradition, helped bring Subiaco to a place where we no longer need assistance in catching up but rather in moving forward; ONWARD TOGETHER.
