On June 12, 1963, Abbot Michael Lensing assigned four monks to the new foundation in Nigeria. Fathers Camillus Cooney, Lawrence Miller, and Basil Wiederkehr, would be led by Father Raphael DeSalvo as the Prior of this foundation. In August of 1964, Brother Louis Fuhrmann and Brother Paul Halliburton would also be assigned to the new priory. The foundation would be abandoned on Holy Thursday, April 11, 1968, due to the Biafra Nigerian Civil War. Photos below show Fr. Raphael during his time as Prior of the Saint Mukasas Priory.
