Greetings to you in the name of our Holy Father St. Benedict! We are glad you have come to the Vocation section of Subiaco Abbey’s website! May the peace of Christ be with you and those you love.
Pope St. John Paul II often stated that “In the designs of Providence, there are no mere coincidences.” You are viewing this site for a reason. Perhaps you feel a call to monastic life, or you know of someone called. Maybe you are just curious about this life. Wherever you are, we would be honored and willing to help you discern.
The monastery of Subiaco Abbey is a vibrant community of men, seeking God together. If you feel God has placed a special calling upon your heart, even if you are unsure of that call or how to respond, do not hesitate to contact us. If you believe someone you know has a calling to this way of life, encourage them to reach out as well. You may be the very instrument God is using to bring this person to realize God’s plan.
Wherever God is calling you, be assured of our monastic community’s prayers for you. We also ask that you pray for us and for vocations to religious life, especially here at Subiaco.
Peace and blessings, Abbot Elijah, Fr. Cassian, Br. Francis, Br. Pio
Br. Raban Heyer will be ordained to Priesthood in the Presbyteral Order on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Abbey Church of St. Benedict at 10:00 am. You are invited to this wonderful celebration and the reception afterwards.
Br. Sebastian has been assigned for the summer to the MACC (Mexican American Catholic College) in San Antonio to get his first immersion in the Spanish language and its many cultures. He is pictured here in class and at Mass as a lector. Brother just finished his first year at St. John's School of Theology and Seminary in Collegeville, MN. He will have three more years of studies and summer assignments before his ordination to priesthood.
DIVINE OPTIONS: We were honored to have Bishop Taylor with us for Confirmation. If you might be called by God to the apostolic life of a diocesan priest working primarily in parishes, then call Fr. Jeff Hebert (Vocation Director for our Diocese of Little Rock; Phone: (501) 664-0340, ext. 331). If you might be called to the contemplative life of monasticism and prayer with ministries in education and hospitality, then contact us!
